The Elfenworks Foundation was created in an effort to support non-governmental organizations in innovative and unconventional ways. The foundation's current goal is to ameliorate domestic poverty and provide new hope for the disenfranchised on our front doorsteps.
You can immediately help The Carter Center in its fight against the stigma surrounding mental illnesses by contributing to the Elfenworks Foundation Challenge grant, which will match each donation made dollar-for-dollar. Please make a difference today.
Elfenworks Foundation Challenge Grant Elfenworks Foundation has challenged The Carter Center to raise $200,000 for the Rosalynn Carter Fellowships for Mental Health Journalism program to continue the battle against the stigma that surrounds mental illnesses. To meet this challenge, we need your support. All contributions provided to this effort will be matched dollar-for-dollar by the Elfenworks Foundation up to $200,000, for a total of $400,000.
The fellowships are part of an international effort by the Carter Center Mental Health Program to reduce stigma and discrimination against people with mental illnesses and decrease incorrect and stereotypical information that perpetuates stigma.
Since the beginning of the Center's journalism fellowship program, more than 100 newspaper and magazine articles have been written, five books published, four television documentaries produced, and hundreds of minutes of radio time aired. Fellows' projects have garnered awards from Mental Health America (formerly the National Mental Health Association), the American Psychological Association, Amnesty International, and the Association of Healthcare Journalists, as well as Emmy Award nominations and two nominations for the Pulitzer Prize in Journalism.
